As a not-for-profit organization, we thrive on and love donations of items. However, for those who wish to sell items for resale at Two Bugs and a Bean, we adhere to the following Buying Guidelines and Processes:
If you have items to sell, we ask that you bring them to Two Bugs and a Bean during regular business hours. We will have you complete a “Buying Agreement” and ask that you leave your items for review (please allow one complete week for review). Following review, you will be sent a text message with an offer for your items. Offers are based upon our experiences, item type, age, condition, quality, current inventory and season.
Please note, we often only purchase a specific season and may occasionally take a break from buying because of inventory, season change or other factors. PLEASE NOTE: TWO BUGS AND A BEAN IS ON A BUYING BREAK THROUGH AUGUST 16, 2021.
Because of space and time limitations, we only accept up to TWO totes (laundry basket size) from a single customer at a time. Please no “under-bed” style totes.
Items must be neatly folded in a plastic tote with a tight-fitting lid. Totes should be no larger than the average laundry basket. We will not accept items for resale in cardboard boxes, garbage bags, laundry baskets, grocery sacks, shopping bags or on hangers. All garage sale stickers or safety pins must be removed.
Clothing should be freshly laundered, completely buttoned, snapped and zipped. The more “ready to sell” your items are, the more you are likely to receive for them.
Baby gear should be complete, in good working order, clean and include all necessary batteries. Instruction manuals should be included. Baby gear should be new within the last 5 years and meet all current safety standards. Baby gear is often recalled for minor problems. We cannot accept any item for resale that has been recalled, is missing safety straps or otherwise deemed unsafe.
We only purchase “gently loved” items free from stains, holes, fading, odors and excessive wear. We will not accept items that smell like smoke, essential oils or smell as if they have been in storage for a long period of time. We reserve the right to decline any items for any reason.
We do not accept these items for resale: breast pumps and related equipment; pre-owned diaper genies, potty chairs, bath tubs or underwear; car safety seats, DVDs, books, video games and most toys.
Once we review items, we will text you with an offer. You may choose to receive a store credit or be paid via check. Offers of store credits will be greater than offers of payment by check. We typically pay 25 – 40% of the amount for which we will sell the item, which is usually 25 – 50% of the retail value.
Sellers must respond to offers within 24 hours and return within ONE WEEK to pick up payment, totes and any items not purchased by Two Bugs and a Bean. Items (including totes) not picked up within one week will be donated to an outside charity and sellers will be mailed a store credit for the items purchased by Two Bugs and a Bean.
Here’s how to maximize the amount you will receive:
Make certain your items are in-season, clean and in like-new condition, neatly folded in bins, totes or boxes.
Choose a store credit. You’ll get up to 10% more vs. a check.
Be a frequent customer. Honestly, we love doing business with people who do business with us!
